Pipeline Pig Tracking Equipment

     Equipped with wireless technology

Summary:

  • Easy to use: Operator does not need a computer, just switch it on with a small magnetic key (supplied)
  • Accuracy assured with Automatic Synchronization to GPS clock.
  • Computerized onboard storage of thousands of pig passage events. All data are saved.
  • Works with Magnetic ILI tools and any tool that is suitably equipped for detection.
  • Battery life: Can operate for up to one hundred sixty days (160) on four (4) Alkaline AA-Cells.
  • Good for multiple runs.
  • Waterproof.
  • Operating temperature range from -40ºF to 185ºF (-40ºC to +85ºC).   At temperatures below -4F (-20C) Lithium AA cells are needed, readily available in camera stores.
  • Notification that Pig passed with or without a computer if using Smartphone® or the new Remote Display Alarm
  • No external controls or antenna.
  • Small easy to carry, weighs less than 1 lb (including batteries), Tough Polycarbonate or ABS case*.
  • One man can carry twenty five (25) of these in a bag..... ideal when using an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV)

    Economically priced.

Features:

  • Small compact size 4.7" x 3.1" x 2.4" weight <1 lbs (including batteries).
  • Space saving, easy to carry, easy to pack, and easy to transport.
  • Easy to use: Place on location over pipeline, switch on, wait for pig to pass. The unit will be ready to detect a pig within 30 Seconds.
  • Tough waterproof Polycarbonate or ABS case*.
  • Operational temperature range -40ºC to +85ºC (To operate below -20ºC AA Lithium Batteries must be used.)
  • Uses two (or four) "AA" size alkaline cells and will operate up to 160 days (one hundred sixty days)  depending upon the mode of operation.
  • Standby mode for fast start.
  • Protected against Reverse Battery Polarity.
  • Above Ground Marker equipped with wireless technology. i.e. no external cables or connections required.
  • After initial setup with a PDA, the AGM can be operated using a simple Magnetic Key i.e. NO PDA needed.
  • 12 channel  GPS receiver. Used to automatically synchronize the onboard Real Time Clock.
  • GPS data are saved with each pass. Automatically uses GPS time when available (99.999% of the time)
  • If GPS signal is not available the onboard Real Time Clock can be used at locations such as tunnel, bridges, high buildings, etc.
  • All Normal pig passage events are recorded and data are stored on a Secure Digital memory card.
  • Uses internal 16MB Secure Digital Memory Card (supplied) with capacity to store thousands of passes.
  • Maximum SD card size accepted is 512 MByte. (enough to store tens of thousands of passes)
  • Normal passes are time logged against the GPS clock and the onboard RTC.
  • High sensitivity Magnetic sensor continuously compensates for local magnetic variations.
  • Software controlled gain settings: Normal Gain and High Gain.
  • Will detect magnetic pigs at depth of up to 20 feet and more. (diameter and wall thickness will influence the results, however this is the most sensitive unit yet.)
  • Onboard firmware helps reduce false passes. Ability to store all events or allow the onboard firmware to make the decision.
  • Real time site noise analysis, allows the operator to visually see if the AGM location has potential noise sources. i.e. near pumping stations, cathodic protection transformers etc.
  • Setup and control using a PDA such as iPAQ®  communicates via wireless technology.
  • When using a PDA,  laptop computer, or Smartphone,  the user can be notified of the pig passing time. Compatible with the new Remote Display Alarm
  • Communication with AGM over a range of about 30 to 50 feet using wireless connection.
  • Very fast data sampling to ensure a true 1/100 second resolution of pig passing times (see note).
  • PC program for viewing and selecting pig passes.
  • Can be pre-placed at location up to 160 days ahead of the run, and can log multiple (1000's) of pig passes.
  • Download pass data using fast wireless data transfer, high speed 230,400 Baud connection speed.
  • AGM can be used as a reference clock to synchronize the onboard clock of the inspection tool.
  • Complete operational manual is available in PDF form.
  • Normal field operation does not require a computer of any kind.
  • PC program for setup and control of the AGM boxes requires Windows XP® (SP2) and a USB adapter for example: Zoom®
  • Smartphone program for monitoring the AGM boxes,  requires Cell Phone running Microsoft Smartphone® 2003 or later.

* Enclosure can be polycarbonate or ABS. If one or the other material is preferred please indicate this at ordering time.
